§ STUDIES · FROM THE ROTATION
Customer studies.
Three teams ran Meridian as their primary paging path for ninety days. These are the numbers, including the month one of them spent measuring the wrong thing.
- 01.BASIN
One page in the first week, and no laptop opened.
Basin moved a four-person rotation off threshold alerting and onto error-budget burn. The rotation stopped being the reason people declined plans.
- 02.COMPASS
Sixty services, one page instead of forty.
Compass had a cascade problem: one failure announcing itself sixty times. Deduplication did more for them than any change to severity.
- 03.TIDELINE
A ninety-seven percent drop, and a month of getting the objectives wrong.
Tideline's alert volume fell further than any team in the study. It also took them a month to discover their objectives were fiction.
